Doña Mencia is the town where the traces of the oldest cultures are present in its museum, archaeological sites and streets. In the old neighborhood nestled find medieval castle that rebuilt the Alvar Perez de Castro, captain Fernando III, gave him the name of his wife. Doña Mencia Lopez de Haro.

Here also we find the ruins of the old church that dates back to 1737 and was destroyed by fire in 1933 (the medieval fortress is built into the urban). In the dungeons of this castle was imprisoned, according to legend, the Great Captain, when he was only 16 years.

But the town is certainly ground fine wines and oils because olive oil with Designation of Origin Baena we have in Doña Mencia is obtained from a fruit tree healthy and picked at the right time.
